A Good Cause

Maxie’s will host its latest Chicken Fried Fundraiser, with country-folk favorite Bert Scholl performing; proceeds will be donated to Loaves and Fishes, with $5 for every chicken dinner and $1 for every pint of Bacchus Brewing beer sold.

Talking ‘Bout a ‘Revolution’

Marco Benevento will perform at the temporarily reopened Rongovian Embassy; the keyboardist has impressed fans with his instrumental mastery and quirky songwriting. Next month, he’ll release a new album, “Woodstock Sessions,” which was recorded live at Applehead Recording in front of a studio audience last summer. Maybird will open the show.

A Fine ‘Mess’

Ithaca Underground will host its first show of the year, with Adam Tinkle performing “A Mess of Things,” an hour-long fusion of radio documentary and experimental theater that blends storytelling and sonic chaos. Corsano is an avant-garde drummer who has played with Bjork, Evan Parker, Sir Richard Bishop and Jandek; Mahadev will be showcasing their latest sonic experiments.

Double Header

Joe Purdy and Garrison Starr team up for a double bill in Ithaca. Purdy is a singer-songwriter who has landed songs on “Lost” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” as well as releasing several albums on his own label, Mudtown Crier Records. Starr, a Mississippi native now based in Los Angeles, made her major-label debut in 1997 with “18 Over Me,” and has continued to release albums that blend rootsy and pop influences.
