Get in the holiday spirit with these cool shows around Ithaca!
The Burns Sisters will play their annual “Home for the Holidays” shows this weekend, with Annie and Marie Burns playing songs from their latest album, 2015’s “Looking Back: Our American Irish Souls,” as well as their 1997 album “Tradition,” a collection of holiday songs from around the world.
When: 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday

Jennie Lowe and the Fire Choir will return to the Fall Creek lounge, which has proven to be the perfect setting for their intimate, rootsy songs. Expect to hear at least one new song, plus other material slated for an upcoming album.

Bringin’ the funk
Mutron Warriors and DJ Ha-meen will team for a funk-filled show on the Cayuga Inlet.

Funk for food
Afro-funk favorites Big Mean Sound Machine will host a holiday party and benefit show. Admission is $6, $1 of which will go to Food Bank of the Southern Tier; or pay $5 and bring a can of food for the pantry.

The Cosmic Joke Collective will host its monthly salon; hosted by Mickie Quinn, this round will feature Adrien Brodeur, Drew Minson and Victoria Paula D joined by soe special guests.

The Unknown Woodsmen – one of Cortland’s best bands – make their debut in downtown Ithaca to play songs from their latest album, “Beauty in the Machine,” as well as some new songs.

Here comes ‘Santa Claus’
Remstar Steele will host a holiday event to showcase songs from his 2015 album “Remstar Santa” (remstar3.bandcamp.com/); he will be joined by Papa Muse, the Spiral Cracks Collection (a dance group) and others.

The fifth annual “Jingle and Jive” holiday festival will present three nights of free music. Sunday, the Al Hartland Trio will perform, followed by the Zaun Marshburn Quartet on Monday and Diana Leigh Jazz Quintet on Tuesday.
