Mountain Stage offers the best seats in the house for performances captured in front of a live audience by established stars and emerging artists. It's a two-hour weekly exploration of the exciting and spontaneous world of live music, offering intelligent, contemporary music seasoned with traditional and roots performers.
Since its beginnings in 1983, Mountain Stage host Larry Groce has presented live performances from many stars before they gained critical and popular acclaim. Some such guests include the Indigo Girls, Ani DiFranco, Sheryl Crow, Counting Crows and Norah Jones.

The host of Mountain Stage from West Virginia Public Broadcasting was recently named a "Southerner of the Year" by Southern Living Magazine.

Bluegrass mainstays Dan Tyminski and Ronnie Bowman join forces on this week's Mountain Stage, beginning with their take on the Jimmy Martin classic "Hold Whatcha Got."

Mountain Stage host Larry Groce got together with staff for the daunting task of choosing some of their favorite performances from the year 2017. We truly enjoy all our guests, and choosing favorites can seem subjective. So here are our 34 Highlights from the 34th Season of Mountain Stage. Curated by Larry  and our staff- Executive Producer Adam Harris, Associate Producers Jeff Shirley and Vasilia Scouras, and our Digital Engineer Patrick Stephens- the list is presented in alphabetical order, from Andrew Bird to Mokoomba to Tyler Childers.

Tupelo, Mississippi born songwriter Paul Thorn has appeared on Mountain Stage nine times since 1997, each time charming the audience with his trademark humor, wit and introspection.

Mountain Stage with Larry Groce will celebrate its 34th Anniversary this Sunday, December 3 at the Culture Center Theater on the grounds of the State Capitol. Doors open at 6:30p.m. and the show starts at 7p.m., but you should make plans to arrive early because we have a couple of special surprises for our ticket holders, so keep reading.

In a 20-year recording career that began when he was just 16, Louisiana born guitarist and songwriter Kenny Wayne Shepherd has become one of the most recognizable players in all  of rock music. The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band appears on this week's Mountain Stage with songs from their latest release "Lay It On Down," including "Diamonds & Gold," heard here.

Grammy winning songwriter and producer Dan Wilson performs his rendition of "Someone Like You," live on Mountain Stage. Wilson co-wrote and produced the song with Adele, for her tremendously successful album "21."

Rock-and-rolling Martingsburg, West Virginian Christian Lopez returns to the Mountain Stage on the campus of West Virginia University for a performance of "Steel on the Water" from his brand new release Red Arrow.
